Improved diagnostics for Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension

Through automated and standardised protocols the Likvor CELDA System assess the cerebrospinal fluid system (CSF) dynamics, helping caregivers to make the correct diagnosis for suspected iIH patients in shorter time.

Improved diagnostics

Through standardized and highly automated tests the CELDA ™ Instrument assists in diagnosing and identifying candidates for shunt surgery. CELDA produces objective results, independent of patient and/or investigator performance.

Prevent unnecessary shunt surgery

The CELDA Instrument is used for iIH patients to assess ICP during at least 30 minutes and simulate the effect of having a shunt implant. The CELDA is used to find shunt responders. A shunt should be implanted when it can make difference for the patient.

Easy to use

The CELDA™ System contains integrated hardware and software and an easy to use interface for safe and efficient handling. The test protocols are automated and produces standardised reports making the work flow and analysis efficient.

A complete solution for assessing CSF dynamics

Pre-operative

Efficient CSF assessment in iIH diagnostics

Likvor CELDA™️ System sets a new standard for diagnostics of disease linked to disturbances in the cerebrospinal fluid system, such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension (iIH). Using automated pressure measure test protocols and tap test, the Likvor CELDA System enhances care givers ability to include or exclude iIH from other diagnosis. Data used from a CELDA investigation is the intracranial pressure (ICP) measured for about 30 minutes, the patient is laying on the back relaxed during the test. The test results are used in deciding whether a patient should be shunted.

Post-operative

Assess the functionality of CSF shunt devices

Following a shunt implant operation, the Likvor CELDA™ System makes it easy to assess the CSF dynamics and observe the functionality of the shunt device. The CELDA Instrument lets you evaluate whether unchanged or worsened symptoms can be corrected by shunt adjustment and to discover any cases of shunt dysfunction requiring surgical shunt revision.

Background

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (iIH), also known as benign intracranial hypertension or pseudotumour cerebri, is a condition with an unknown cause or causes. The condition is associated with raised fluid pressure around the brain. The fluid that cushions the brain is called cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

It can cause disabling daily headaches and visual loss, which can be permanent. The raised brain pressure can press the nerves supplying the eye (also known as papilledema) and this can affect vision.
